Amy has been creating mobiles since 2019.
I attended the University of Miami and received my Bachelors Degree with certification in Art Education, Special Education and Elementary Education.
Also completing my Master’s in Curriculum and Instruction in Art from Florida Atlantic University
For almost thirty years I was privileged to teach in the Broward County schools district for adults with varying disabilities.
I developed and created a program of the Arts and Crafts which encompassed the entire spectrum of handicapped individuals from ages 23 and up.
I was also employed at The Eyeglass Cottage optical practice in Hallandale, FL. for twenty years, where I designed displays and assisted in the organization of the office.
After retiring in June of 2019, I created a workshop in my garage.
I have always been involved in crafts and collecting items I have found in nature. The development of my current creations was fortuitous as a friend gave me a few sentimental items and asked that I create something with them for her and low and behold a Mobile was created!
This has opened up a whole new dimension for me and a great passion for design, color and motion. With the use of driftwood, pods from the local Royal Poinciana tree, beach glass, beads of all materials, crystals, jewelry findings and bells, I create a story, a feeling with each whimsical mobile that varies from ethnicity to vintage appeal with unusual elegance and texture with diverse color combinations and materials.
The mobiles are created from a specifically chosen piece of driftwood, and varying lengths and quanity of pods. These are then treated for indoor or outdoor appeal. The pods have indentations on their interior left from dried seeds, which I drill through and meticulously sew onto the front and to the back of the entire pod, with fishing line for durability. The colors and feel are then determined. The pods are then strung with these items and sewn to the driftwood, and an additional attachment of beads makes up the hanging device.

Amy collects many of her materials locally from various areas along the coast of South Florida natural areas. Sea glass, and driftwood from the beautiful beaches, seed pods from the Royal Poinciana tree, make unique additions to
her work.
